Meet Our Experts

Chucody and Deva McNiven bring a wealth of expertise to your side, with over thirty years of combined professional experience across K-12 and higher education systems. Our dedication goes beyond our degrees in education; it is deeply personal, rooted in our own journey of raising three children with visual impairments. We truly understand the unique challenges and joys that come with advocating for family members with disabilities. Throughout our careers, we have been passionate mentors for students of all ages, and we are now eager to share that depth of knowledge, empathy, and practical strategy with your family to help you navigate every milestone with confidence.

Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP)

CRP services focus on your career path, providing expert job coaching and placement to help you thrive in the workplace. We guide job seekers through every professional hurdle to ensure a lasting career.

Job Readiness Training

Job Readiness Training (JRT)

Training provided to prepare an individual for work (e.g., work behaviors, getting to work on time, dress and grooming, increasing productivity, etc.).

For example, this service category may be used for soft skills training, job shadows, informational interviews, mock interviews, and work-site tours, as well as set up and job coaching for work experiences.

Short-term Job Supports

Short Term Job Supports (STS)

Support services provided to an individual who has been placed in employment in order to stabilize the placement and enhance job retention. Such services include short-term job coaching for persons who do not have a supported employment goal consistent with the employment goal on the IPE.​

Job Search Assistance

Job Search Assistance (JSA)

Job search activities support and assist an individual in searching for an appropriate job. Job search assistance may include help in resume preparation, identifying appropriate job opportunities, developing interview skills, and making contacts with companies on behalf of the consumer.

IEP Support

IEP Advocacy focuses on K-12 school success, ensuring your child receives proper educational support. CRP services differ by focusing on the transition to adult life through career placement.

IEP Consultation 

A comprehensive initial discussion to review your child's current Individualized Education Program (IEP). We will address your specific concerns, define advocacy goals, and outline the necessary next steps to ensure your student's rights are being upheld.

IEP Strategy Session

At CDM Advocacy, our Strategy Session is designed to empower parents seeking effective advocacy for their students. In this focused consultation, we assess your unique challenges, provide tailored strategies, and equip you with the tools needed to navigate the educational system confidently. Together, We'll ensure that your child receives the support and resources they deserve. 

IEP Meeting Attendance

Professional support during Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting. We work alongside you to ensure that accommodations are appropriate, modifications are clearly documented, and your rights are upheld in a lawful manner. 

IEP Advocacy Workshop

A comprehensive workshop designed for parents and students to become confident advocates in the IEP process. Participants will learn how to effectively engage with educators and ensure the execution of a fair and tailored Individual Education Plan through interactive sessions and expert advice. 

File/Record Review

We conduct an in-depth assessment of academic records to highlight key strengths and pinpoint service gaps, ensuring every IEP truly serves your child’s needs. By analyzing medical history and past educational data, we build a comprehensive profile of their development, allowing us to craft a highly informed and effective school advocacy strategy for your family.
